St. Robert of Newminster Parish’s Samaritan Fund exists to extend Christ’s compassion to those facing real and often heartbreaking struggles—right here in our community. Through your generous support, this fund quietly but powerfully helps individuals and families in times of profound need: A young mother choosing life in the midst of an unexpected pregnancy; a woman fleeing domestic violence with her children and nowhere to turn; a neighbor in need of counseling to find light in the darkness; an impoverished individual whose last wish was to receive a traditional funeral Mass and burial instead of being cremated. These are not just stories—they are real people. People like Keith, a man we ministered to in a local nursing home. He’d had a difficult life and had no one else except for his parish family. He had no money and his only wish was, when he died, not to be cremated. After he died, we were able to carry out his only wish as he departed this world to meet our Lord - providing him with a traditional funeral Mass and burial. This was made possible through the Samaritan Fund. And this work can continue because of the generosity of donors like you. On this Giving Tuesday, our goal is to raise $20,000 for our parish’s Samaritan Fund. With these funds, we can continue to respond swiftly and mercifully with love, dignity, and tangible help to individuals in need in our parish and the surrounding community.
